With the evolution of social media and digital marketing, many CMS platforms (open-source and proprietary softwares alike) have released versions that have the digital marketing suites integrated for ease of use and to become the CMS of choice. Having digital marketing operations not only allow companies to establish themselves as socially responsible businesses, but it is great for having centralized marketing control and smooth operation.

Third Party Tools

The trouble, however, is that many businesses are still using other platforms for their digital marketing purposes. For instance, a company could be using Drupal as a CMS platform, but their marketers may be using HubSpot or MailChimp for digital campaigns (including newsletters). These fairly reasonably priced digital marketing platforms are very easy to use and offer many options. Another thing to consider is the multiple (screen) compatibility of the digital marketing campaigns (e.g. optimized screen for mobile devices, laptops and desktop computers alike).

Sitecore Launched CMS 6.6 Today

Sitecore released CMS 6.6 today which reportedly works great for marketers as it allows for advanced targeting for multichannel campaigns. The new version also caters to small screen audience (mobile devices such as iPhone, Android and Windows smartphones). Sitecore 6.6 is expected to enhance engagement with customers through any interaction channels – which should work really well for marketers as they strive to continuously engage the audience.

Outgrowing Your Integrated Digital Marketing Suite

The Marketing Suites within CMS platforms work well for small to medium sized businesses more than they do for large enterprises as big companies traditionally have many marketers dedicated to the many products/services. It becomes hard (and sometimes seemingly impossible) to have a centralized system in a fast paced social engagement environment where the different marketing teams within an empire strive to spark conversations with their (different) audiences simultaneously.

However, it has become crucial for the many CMS platforms to incorporate marketing suites for companies as the need for web social engagement becomes vital.
