Today is the day! Episode one of CMSC Media’s newest podcast series— Insights & Innovations. I am thrilled to share an engaging conversation I was privileged to have with our inaugural guest, Galya Westler. Galya is a serial entrepreneur who is currently CEO and founder of her second company, Plazus Technologies Not only is Galya a ‘blockchain aficionado’, but she is also a software engineer, a thought leader, and is an expert speaker about blockchain on many different world stages, including TEDx.

Most of us are aware of the hype around cryptocurrencies, like Bitcoin, but what is less known and understood is the technology used to transfer these digital funds—blockchain. The word ‘blockchain’ is most often associated with cryptocurrency. In our podcast, Galya explains how they are related, but also takes us beyond into how blockchain’s technology has become useful in other applications. Galya explains how blockchain is like a ‘decentralized ledger’, where all interactions are recorded and traceable, and how this method protects digital assets.
Building from there, Galya further explains the challenges that businesses are solved by adopting blockchain technology, what industries are leading the way, and the reasons companies are doing so. From our conversation, I found it interesting to learn just how many different types of businesses could benefit and have benefited from adopting blockchain technology.
