Meet Arjé Cahn Appearing on CMS-Connected in June
On Tuesday, June 30, Arjé Cahn will wave the flag of open source software (OSS) based CMS systems around the globe in an attempt to educate our viewers of the benefits of this transparent technology.
As the CTO and co-founder of Hippo (possibly the best logo in the industry), we would consider Arjé a heavyweight when it comes to an authority on OSS CMS systems. Hippo is frequently in the news and has built up a significant amount of momentum in the last couple of years. Hippo is currently powering some very large websites from Mailchimp to 1&1 Internet AG and the Dutch National Government. CMS connected recently featured Hippo in our highly popular Vendor Segment: View the Hippo Review
The following is an excerpt from the Hippo website:
"As CTO, Arjé is the technical brain behind Hippo CMS. He earned his merits in the open source world as an elected Member of the Apache Software Foundation in 2007 after becoming an Apache Cocoon Committer in 2005. He is a frequent speaker at international conferences on content management, open source and information management. Arjé shares his fourteen years of business experience with the growing Dutch tech community as a mentor at Rockstart."
Open Source Vs Proprietary
This debate will never leave us. Our industry likes to pit these 2 camps against each other, but in the end is it really that simple? We are very much looking forward to having Arje join us along with his counterpart from the Kentico camp, Bryan Soltis (read a short bio on Bryan here
Vote in our web poll
Pencil in your opinion on some of the most commonly asked questions regarding the value of both open source and proprietary based CMS platforms. From the numbers below, our audience seems to feel that software support and hefty customization requirements are some real concerns with the OSS option, while sustainability (acquisition) and 'other' (license costs?) are leading the charge on the proprietary side.
Don't Miss Open Source Vs Proprietary
What are the factors that one should consider when choosing between these two WCM technologies? That’s exactly what Butch and Scott will try to figure out with our special guests Arjé Cahn, CTO from Hippo representing the Open Source side of the debate and Bryan Soltis, Technical Evangelist from Kentico representing the Proprietary side.
